Incident at 8000 Munn

April 16, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8000 Munn about 11 p.m. on Friday, April 15.

The victim is identified as Benjamin Olivares, 42, of 8020 Munn. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported the Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. H. Kennedy and Officer R. Moreno reported:

The victim was inside of his residence when he heard an altercation outside involving his sister (witness) who lives next door at 8000 Munn. Olivares went outside and saw two young Hispanic males apparently robbing her at gunpoint. The victim went to his sister's aid and was shot once in the chest by one of the suspects. The suspects confronted the witness, who believes she was followed as she arrived home from work.

The suspects are described as two young Hispanic males driving in a dark colored SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer.
