August 19, 2005 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 4025 Eldridge Parkway about 12:45 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 11).

HAD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

Mr. Chopra was shot and killed during a robbery in the Joseph A. Fiorenza Park on August 11, 2005 while meditating or praying on his lunch break, which was his usual routine. There were no witnesses to the murder and the suspect was unknown until officers learned that Chopra's credit cards were being used to purchase gasoline after his murder. The arrest of the theft suspects enabled officers to identify Bellamy as the person who robbed and murdered Mr. Chopra.
