Incident at 513 Candadian

September 26, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 513 Canadian about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 25).

The victim is identified as David Joshua Casillas, 24, of 4809 Siegel. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers K.P. Carr and A. Mares reported:

Officers responded to a shooting call at 511 Canadian and found the victim lying in the front yard of a residence at 513 Canadian.

Witnesses observed suspects leaving the scene in a dark vehicle with chrome wheel rims. A similar vehicle was stopped in the area by responding patrol officers and three individuals were detained. Those three persons were transported to the city jail, questioned and then released.

It was learned that Casillas had been assaulted earlier in the evening, about 10 p.m. on Saturday, at a corner store in the neighborhood. The shooting might have been a result of that earlier altercation. The investigation into both incidents is continuing.

Anyone with information in either incident is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
