Incident at 10301 Sandpiper

January 8, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 10301 Sandpiper today (January 8), about 6 a.m.

The victim is identified as Damon Eugene James, 29. He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D. A. Ferguson and Officer B.C. McDaniel reported:

Several gunshots were heard in the parking lot of the complex. One of the tenants looked out of his bedroom window and observed Mr. James moving around on his back in the parking lot. It appears that Mr. James was visiting a relative in the apartment complex.

The suspect (s) fled the scene after the shooting and the motive is still unknown.
