Incident at 1800 North Main

January 9, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1800 North Main about 3 a.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2006.

The victim has been identified as Rene Cortinas Jr., 19, address unknown.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. T. Mosqueda and Officer L. Benavidez reported:

According to a passenger in Mr. Cortinas' vehicle, they were traveling southbound in the 1800 block of North Main when someone inside a light brown or silver 1999-2000 Chevy Malibu fired several shots at the vehicle. There was a Hispanic male driver and Hispanic female passenger in the suspect's car. The passenger took Mr. Cortinas to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
