Incident at 6771 Westbranch #3205

September 13, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male at 6771 Westbranch #3205 about 12:05 a.m. on June 2, 2006.

The suspect, Jeffery Charles Mitchell (b/m, DOB 01-27-84) is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Andre Mayberry, 15, who died from multiple gunshot wounds after being found on the parking lot of his apartment complex.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T.R. Hernandez and Officer X. E. Avila reported:

The suspect was arrested on an unrelated robbery case and is being held at the Harris County Jail. A pistol recovered during the robbery investigation was processed for evidence and found to match evidence left at the murder scene. In addition, friend's of Mitchell were re-interviewed and enough information was obtained to file charges of murder. Mitchell admitted to being present at the time of the shooting but denied any involvement.
