Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot at 5602 Melanite

April 21, 2008 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 5602 Melanite about 1:45 p.m. on Friday (April 18) will be referred to a Fort Bend County grand jury.

The suspect suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office. A female victim, Amber Marie Holt, 22, suffered a laceration to her head as a result of the attempted robbery.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Senior Police Officer M. Waters reported:

Three armed suspects committed a home invasion robbery at a residence at 5602 Melanite and confronted three victims inside, striking Ms. Holt with a pistol. The two other (male) victims retrieved their own weapons and exchanged gunfire with two suspects, striking one of the suspects. The two remaining suspects fled the residence on foot to a waiting vehicle, driven by a fourth suspect. None of the victims was shot.

The wanted suspects are described only as three black males. They were seen leaving the scene in a gold or tan, four-door, 2000 to 2005 Ford, possibly a Contour.
