Investigation Into Child’s Death at 7319 Gonzalez

April 30, 2008 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a child found unresponsive at 7319 Gonzalez about 4:15 a.m. today.

The five-year-old victim, Daniel Chavez, of Houston, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer B. D. Evans and Officer E. Godwin reported:

Officers responded to a residence at 7319 Gonzalez and found HFD paramedics performing CPR on Daniel. The child was then taken to the hospital. According to family members, Daniel suffered from numerous medical problems including Lyphomic Cancer, and had also been under home Hospice care for the last two years due to his medical history.

The investigation is continuing.
