Suspects Sought in Fatal Shooting at 3200 Eastex Freeway

August 18, 2008 - Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects wanted in the fatal shooting of a man in the 3200 block of the Eastex Freeway about 12:10 a.m. on Sunday (August 17).

The suspects are described only as two black males. They were seen leaving the scene in an unknown make or model vehicle.

The victim, Jerome Clyde Burten, 22, of Houston, suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers D. Vasquez and J. Selvera reported:

Witnesses stated hearing gunshots coming from the Colony Apartments and the victim was confronted outside the complex parking lot by two suspects, who produced a firearm and shot him. The victim then walked down the Eastex Freeway service road and collapsed inside a private residence driveway. The victim was then taken to the hospital.
