July 29, 2008 - Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in the fatal stabbing of a man at 6514 Sloan #1 about 2 a.m. on Monday (July 28).

Two suspects, Richard DeLeon (H/m, DOB: 11/3/81) and Edward Delagarza (H/m, DOB: 10/10/82) are each charged with capital murder in the 179th State District Court. A third suspect, Gabriel DeLeon (H/m, DOB: 9/5/86) is charged with murder in the 179th State District Court. The suspects are accused in the killing of William Douglas, 36, of Houston, who suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers T.W. Miller and A.D. Brown reported:

The suspects went to the apartment on Sloan to look for Richard Deleon’s girlfriend, whom he (Richard DeLeon) had been fighting with and threatened to beat up earlier in the evening. Deleon and Delagarza, who was armed with a butcher knife, arrived at the apartment, kicked in the front door and DeLeon started beating up his girlfriend. Mr. Douglas, a downstairs neighbor, and another male heard the door being kicked in and the girlfriend being attacked so they went to aid the female victim(s). Delagarza produced his butcher knife and stabbed both Douglas and the second male victim. After a struggle, Gabriel DeLeon chased Douglas as he (Douglas) fled the apartment and also stabbed the victim. The second male victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and taken straight into surgery and remains in critical condition.

The suspects are brothers and were driven to the apartments by their mother, who was the getaway driver after the stabbing. The suspects were also injured in the struggle with Richard DeLeon and Delagarza being transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where they were arrested. Gabriel DeLeon was treated by HFD at a relative’s house, where he was arrested.
