Fatal Shooting at 9550 Long Point

September 10, 2008 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 9550 Long Point about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday (September 9).

The victim, 22, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R.A. Odom and Officer J.L. Coffelt reported:

Two groups of males became involved in an argument in the courtyard area of the Cornerstone Apartments at 9550 Long Point. The argument escalated when the two groups exchanged gunfire. In addition to the 22 year-old victim, a second male from the second group was struck in the back. A female victim, not involved in the altercation, was also struck in the leg.

The second male and the female were also transported to Ben Taub General Hospital for treatment of their wounds.
