March 16, 2009 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a female at 6525 Westview about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday (March 15).

The suspect, Robert Jordan Odom Jr. (w/m, DOB: 5-29-88), is charged with manslaughter in the 180th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Allison Aubrecht, 17, of Houston. Ms. Aubrecht suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R.D. Chandler and Senior Police Officer L.K. Lovelace reported:

During a party inside the residence at 6525 Westview, Odom produced a handgun and pointed it around the room.  Believing the gun to be unloaded, Odom placed the gun to the back of Aubrecht’s head and pulled the trigger.  The gun discharged and killed the victim.

According to witnesses, there was no argument or physical confrontation prior to the shooting. An investigation found evidence of alcohol and drug use inside the house.  The house was being informally rented by three people, all of whom were at the location at the time of the shooting. All three were questioned by police and released at the scene.  Further investigation determined Odom was a resident of the house.
