Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 2636 South Loop West

May 12, 2016 - The fatal shooting of a man at 2636 South Loop West (South Interstate Highway 610 West) about 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday (May 11) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male, 38, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 62, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers W. Huff and S. Spivey reported:

A male in an agitated state went to one of the offices on the fifth floor of the building at the above address and was told he would have to reschedule his appointment for another day.  The male left and returned about 30 minutes later, behaving in an irate manner.  He kicked a glass door to the office several times, causing damage.  Moments later, he went to a next door office and attempted to kick open that door.

The owner of that business, along with two females inside, told the male several times to leave.  The male then lunged at the business owner, who was armed with a gun.  Fearing for his life, the business owner fired one shot and the male was struck.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
