Investigation into Fatal Crash at 18800 Katy Freeway


September 23, 2016 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 18800 Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 West) at about 5:25 a.m. today (Sept. 23).

The identity of the male victim, 26, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Officer D. Rodriguez reported:

The driver of a silver Saturn Vue and the operator of a black Harley motorcycle (victim) were both traveling eastbound on the Katy Freeway service road.  The drivers of the two vehicles became involved in a dispute and began changing lanes and positions with one another.  The driver of the Saturn then changed lanes to the right as the victim was attempting to pass the Saturn, which then struck the motorcycle.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Saturn remained at the scene, was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
