AUTO THEFT DIVISION

Mission: To enforce all laws pertaining to the theft of motor vehicles and thefts from motor vehicles; to investigate all such offenses to the fullest extent possible with the available resources; and to develop programs that will reduce motor vehicle theft and provide the citizens of Houston with continuing education in theft prevention and crime awareness issues.

In order to accomplish its' mission, the Auto Theft Division is divided into four operational units. These units are Administration, Auto Theft Investigations, Vehicle Compound and Auto Dealer's Detail. Although each unit has different responsibilities, each plays an important part in the prevention and investigation of auto theft related offenses and the regulation of automotive related businesses.
