Family Violence Division
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Family Violence Division is to work toward ending family violence in our community. To accomplish this mission, the Family Violence Division takes a holistic, threefold approach: train police officers, educate the public, and investigate family violence crimes.
The Family Violence Division investigates family violence related crimes within the city limits of Houston involving victims who are or were personally connected to the offender. These relationships include spouses, ex-spouses, family members, dating partners, intimate partners, roommates, and family members of an individual’s current spouse. Our division handles crimes including, but not limited to, assault, harassment, threat to life, violation of a protective order, interfering with child custody, and incidents in which the victim is a juvenile between 15-17 years of age. We are committed to holding family violence offenders accountable and helping survivors find the safety and recovery they need.
It is a crime for any person to intentionally cause you harm, even if that person is a member of your household. It is important to tell the officer if you or any other household member have been injured, or if you feel you are going to be in danger after the officer leaves.
