Incident at 6425 Westheimer

August 7, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6425 Westheimer on Saturday, August 6, 2005 about 3 a.m.

The deceased victim is identified as Tracy Lamar Higginbotham, 35. He suffered a gunshot wound to the left eye and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Mosqueda and Officer L. Benevidez reported:

A witness observed Higginbotham lying on the parking lot pavement. He got out of his vehicle to check on Higginbotham's condition and he noticed that the victim was bleeding from the head and not moving. The witness called 911 for police and ambulance.

Investigators learned that Higginbotham was arguing with an unknown male in the parking lot prior to being shot. The shooter left the scene in a blue Chevrolet Impala LP# 544 BRH. At this time there is no motive for the shooting and it is unknown at this time if Higginbotham knew his assailant.
