Incident at 1000 Thompson

August 12, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1000 Thompson on Saturday, August 13, 2005 about 10:10 p.m.

The victim's identity is pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office. He suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C.W. Howard, Jr. and Sergeant M.W. McStravick reported:

The victim and the suspect were arguing a short distance from where the shooting occurred. The suspect walked away and the victim followed him. They engaged in a physical altercation, during which the suspect shot the victim with a small caliber pistol. The suspect left and has not been identified.
