Traffic Incident at 12500 Northwest Freeway

August 25, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12500 Northwest Freeway (Highway 290) about 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 24).

The name of the deceased female victim, 19, is being withheld pending notification to family members.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R.R. Schweiker and Officer M.E. Wick reported:

The victim was driving west on Highway 290 at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle and collided with another vehicle traveling in the same direction. The victim's vehicle turned over and she was partially ejected. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The male driver of the other vehicle was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle. The section of the freeway where the accident occurred is under construction and had only one lane open at the time.
