Incident at 5759 Southminster

December 5, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating an apparent murder/suicide at 5759 Southminster on Saturday December 3, 2005 about 10:05 a.m.

The victim is identified as Maria Elizabeth Orellano, 30, of 5759 Southminster. She suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of the chest. The suspect is identified as Carlos Juan Rivera. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Riojas and Officer R. Cervantes reported:

Arriving police officers were advised by HFD paramedics that both persons inside the apartment were deceased. Investigators said it appears the woman was the victim and the male was the suspect in this case.
