Update on Incident at 5908 Gulfton

December 12, 2005 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 5908 Gulfton about 4 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 11).

The suspect, a juvenile male, has been referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department on a charge of murder. The victim is identified as Joseles C. Rios, 22, of 3814 Ripplebrook. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Riojas and Officer R. Cervantes reported:

Five males were at a taco stand when Rios arrived to buy some food. An argument took place between Rios and one of the males. The verbal exchange quickly escalated to a physical altercation between the juvenile suspect and Rios. The suspect produced a handgun and shot Rios multiple times.
