Traffic Incident at 1700 Richmond

December 31, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 1700 Richmond about 12:10 a.m. today (Dec. 31).

The identity of the deceased victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer T.D. Houston reported:

A Toyota Camry struck a female victim as she attempted to cross the roadway at 1700 Richmond. She was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a witness, the driver of the Toyota attempted to avoid the pedestrian who was crossing against the red light. Toxicological tests were performed on the driver and the pedestrian. Results are pending.

The investigation is continuing.
