Traffic Incident on Southwest Freeway at Yoakum

February 5, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal auto/pedestrian accident on the outbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway near Yoakum about 1:50 a.m. today (Feb. 5).

The deceased pedestrian, an unidentified male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant D.S. Runyan and Officer D.J. Gutierrez reported:

Two pickup trucks had an accident on the inbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway. The driver of one of the trucks got out of his vehicle and ran inbound toward traffic on the other side of the freeway. About one quarter mile from the truck accident scene, he was struck by a Toyota Camry and killed instantly. The driver of the Camry was transported to Park Plaza Hospital with minor lacerations to his face.
