Update on Incident at 9700 Court Glen

February 11, 2005 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 9700 Court Glen about 12:25 a.m. on February 7.

The suspect has been identified as Marvin O'Brien Pierre (b/m, DOB 12-5-75). He is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court. Pierre is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 180 to 200 pounds. He is NOT in custody.

The victim, Kofi Appiah, 27, of 8619 Candlegreen suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer C. Scales reported:

It appears Appiah was visiting a female friend at an apartment complex at 9700 Court Glen. Shortly after midnight, Appiah was standing outside when he was approached by Pierre who shot him in the chest several times. Pierre then fled on foot. Witnesses saw a green sport utility vehicle speeding from the location.
