Traffic Incident at West Tidwell at Black Gum

February 20, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at West Tidwell at Black Gum on Saturday, February 19, 2005, about 2:21 p.m.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant Gonzales and Officers R. Pedraza and W. Johnson
reported:

According to witnesses, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on W. Tidwell and a Ford Sport Track was traveling westbound on W. Tidwell. The driver of the vehicle attempted to turn in front of the Ford Sport Track and was hit. The driver and passengers of the Ford Sport Track were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver and two passengers of the other vehicle were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries. David Rodriguez, 3, who was sitting in the back right passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
