Traffic Incident at 14300 Gulf Freeway

January 31, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14300 Gulf Freeway service road on Sunday, January 30, 2005, about 6:15 p.m.

The victim has been identified as Johnny Clint Pannell Jr., 34, of 5710 Avenue P in Santa Fe.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant H. M. Garcia and Officer R. D. Davidson reported:

Pannell was traveling southbound on the Gulf Freeway service road when he rear-ended another vehicle. Pannell's vehicle then hit a large pole on the grassy area between the service road and the freeway. Pannell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Investigation to continue.
