Incident at 107 Milby

July 1, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the death of a woman found at 107 Milby about 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, 2005.

The identity of the female victim and cause of death are pending an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant P. Motard and Officer C. Abbondandolo reported:

The Goodyear store at 107 Milby caught fire approximately two years ago. Since that time, the store has been vacant except for homeless men and women who routinely frequent the location.

The new owners of the location were cleaning the building when they found the body of the victim inside a 55-gallon barrel of used oil and filters.

It is unknown at this time how long the victim had been in the oil, but it appears she had been there from one to two weeks.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact the Houston Police Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
