Traffic Incident at 8500 South Freeway

June 4, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8500 South Freeway on Friday (June 3) about 2:25 p.m.

The victim, Judy Galindo, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant N. Nguyen and Officer D. Ertons reported:

A white Mitsubishi van was traveling southbound on the South Freeway when the right rear tire blew out causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The van hit the median and rolled over. Ms. Galindo, who was a passenger in the van, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the van, a 23-year-old female, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
