The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to next of kin and an autopsy by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officers T. J. McCorvey and R. P. Martinez reported:

The victim and a witness exited an after-hours club located at 6200 Laura Koppe and entered the victim's personal vehicle when an unknown black male suspect approached that vehicle and knocked on the driver's side window. According to the witness, the victim ignored the suspect and placed his vehicle in reverse and started backing up when the suspect started firing a semiautomatic weapon into the driver's door and window. The victim's vehicle continued to travel in reverse for one hundred yards before coming to rest in a ditch along the north side of the street.

The witness stated the suspect continued to fire at the victim from the inside of a dark colored four-door sedan as the victim's vehicle traveled out of control down the street. The suspect fled the scene in the dark colored vehicle.
