March 4, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Piping Rock and State Hwy 6 South today (March. 4) about 1:30 a.m.

Traffic Division Investigator R. Stafford reported:

A Honda Civic was traveling southbound on Highway 6 at a high rate of speed in a northbound lane. The Honda left the roadway just north of Piping Rock on the east side of the roadway and struck a large light pole. The vehicle came to rest against a Ford pickup truck. The Ford did not sustain substantial damage. Blood results on the deceased 26-year-old male driver of the Honda will be obtained from the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office at a later date. The driver of the Ford was not injured. Neither vehicle had passengers. The investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident.
