Incident at 8000 Cook Road #2120

March 17, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 8000 Cook Rd. #2120 on Monday, March 14, at about 12:45 a.m.

The victim is identified as Rubin Jackson, 29, of 8000 Cook Rd. #2120.

HPD Homicide Division Officers E. Gonzalez and B. Harris reported:

The victim was found on the floor of his bedroom and had suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. The investigation revealed a bullet hole in the victim's bedroom window. There were portable basketball goals located underneath the bedroom window, which led to numerous young people hanging out in the area. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 12:45 that morning.

Witnesses told police that it was common to hear a shot fired in that area of the parking lot. The victim may have died from a random gunshot.
