Traffic Incident at Bissonnet and Fondren

March 19, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at Bissonnet and Fondren about 1:25 a.m. today (March 19).

The two male victims identity is pending notification to next of kin by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Traffic Division Sergeant D. Runyan and Officer R. Stafford reported:

A GMC Suburban and Mitsubishi Galant were southbound on Fondren traveling through the Bissonnet intersection when a Toyota Celica, eastbound on Bissonnet, ran the red light. The two male occupants of the Toyota Celica were pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the GMC Suburban, who was unconscious, was taken to a local hospital. The female driver of the Mitsubishi Galant, Cassandra Metu, was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
