Traffic Incident at 6300 Gulf Freeway

May 6, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 6300 Gulf Freeway about 5:25 a.m. today (May 6).

The victim, Catrina Chavez, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. R. Hurd and Officer M. W. Potell reported:

The driver of a Metro Transit Authority bus was traveling southbound in the 6300 block of the Gulf Freeway when he struck a pedestrian who was walking across the freeway from west to east. It is unknown why the pedestrian was attempting to cross the freeway.

The investigation is continuing.
