Incident at 8416 Garland

May 8, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating the death of an infant at 8416 Garland on May 7, 2005 about 9:30 a.m.

The deceased 5-month-old baby's identity is not being released at this time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Officer E. Gonzales reported:

Houston police officers were called out to investigate the death of an infant. The baby was left under the care of a baby sitter while his mother traveled out of state. The caretaker woke up to find the baby unresponsive. The caretaker called 911 and an ambulance responded. The baby did not display apparent signs of trauma. The cause of death will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.
