Incident at 11000 Kinghurst

May 28, 2005 -- Identities of two boys found at the bottom of an apartment complex swimming pool about 1:35 p.m. on Friday have been released.

The deceased boy was identified as McClain Rockson, 6. His older brother, Richard Rockson, 8, remained in the intensive care unit at Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant D.A. Ferguson and Officer B.C. McDaniel reported:

The mother of the two boys allowed them to wade in the water on the steps of the apartment complex swimming pool. The mother said she went back to check on the boys anywhere between 30 and 90 minutes later. The mother said she then saw the boys at the bottom of the pool. She screamed for help and some teens in the area jumped into the pool and pulled the boys out.

The teens, a responding HPD police officer, and HFD paramedics administered CPR on the boys. However, McClain was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.
