Incident at 5135 North Freeway

November 15, 2005 -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in the fatal stabbing of a man and wounding of a woman at 5135 North Freeway #69 about 1:20 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 13).

The deceased victim is identified as John Melchor, 46, of 707 Eubanks. He was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital. The female victim, Sallie Millan, 37, lives in the apartment where the incident occurred.

The suspect, Tommie Rodriguez (H/m, DOB 1-20-58), has been charged with murder in the 178th State District Court.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J.T. Parker and Officer C.L. Scales reported:

Officers responded to a family disturbance call at the apartment and found a male and female had been stabbed and a second male had suffered minor injuries. The female victim was treated at and released from an area hospital. Further investigation revealed the suspect fatally stabbed his brother-in-law. The suspect was arrested following treatment for his injuries.
