Traffic Incident at 7000 Katy Freeway

November 19, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 7000 Katy Freeway about 1:15 a.m. today (Nov.19).

The identity of the deceased victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant D. S. Runyan and Officer L. D. Ferguson reported:

The victim, a traffic construction worker, was struck and killed as he worked on the Katy Freeway. An unidentified motorist, who fled the scene, veered out of his lane of traffic and the vehicle's right-side mirror struck the decedent in the face. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
