Traffic Incident at 5100 Navigation

October 17, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5100 Navigation about 2:10 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 16).

The identity of the deceased male victim, in his 40s, is pending notification to his next of kin.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant R.R. Schweiker and Officer S. Bolton reported:

A 47-year-old male was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck westbound in the 5100 block of Navigation at a high rate of speed. The truck left the roadway and struck a concrete wall before striking a tree. The driver was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition with serious injuries. The male passenger was dead at the scene. Alcohol could have been a contributing factor in this accident.

The investigation is continuing.
