Traffic Incident at 5715 Bellfort

October 18, 2005 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 5715 Bellfort about 11:55 a.m. today (Oct. 18).

The identity and cause of death of the 84-year-old female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office. Investigators believe she suffered a possible heart attack just prior to the accident.

H.P.D. Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant M.W. Bearden and Officer C. Green reported:

The elderly victim was in the drive-thru lane of a local restaurant when she apparently experienced a heart attack and lost control of her vehicle. The vehicle coasted through the drive-thru and continued across two lanes of traffic on Bellfort, struck a curb and landed in a culvert. At the time of the accident, there was a passenger in the back seat of the victim's vehicle who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
