Traffic Incident at 9800 Gulf Freeway

September 26, 2005 -- Houston police are continuing their investigation of a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Monday, September 26, 2005 in the 9800 block of the Gulf Freeway around 3:10 a.m.

According to HPD Officers R. Stafford and S. Martinez, a car was apparently stopped in the outbound moving lanes of the freeway with no lights on. Another car coming over the hill ran into the back of the car that was stopped causing a fire. The driver of the first car was killed instantly.

Investigators reported that each car had one occupant. Anyone who may have additional information about this accident is asked to contact the Houston Police Department Mobility Incident Management Division at 713-247-4072.
