Traffic Incident at 14800 Katy Freeway
September 28, 2005 -- Houston
police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 14800 Katy
Freeway about 2:05 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 27).
The deceased victim was identified as Maria Tamez,
72. She was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.
HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant
N.Q. Nguyen and Officer J. Tippy reported:
There was a chain-reaction accident involving
five vehicles on the eastbound lanes of the Katy Freeway near
State Highway 6. The vehicles included a black GMC Envoy, a black
Volvo, a beige Toyota Camry, a private ambulance owned by American
Medical Response, and an 18-wheeler tractor-trailer transporting
sandbags.
Ms. Tamez was a passenger in the ambulance. She
and the drivers and passengers of the vehicles involved were transported
to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.
The investigation into the circumstances of the
accident is continuing.
