April 7, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 8400 Mosley about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (Apr. 6).

The victim has been identified as Jimmy Bales, 32, of Dickinson, Texas. He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.

Ertons reported:

Mr. Bales was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Mosley when a vehicle, leaving a private driveway, pulled out into his lane of traffic. In an attempt to avoid the collision, Bales steered his cycle to the wrong side of the roadway, lost control and fell onto a private parking lot. He was wearing a helmet, but sustained serious head injuries. Witnesses at the scene stated that Mr. Bales appeared to have been speeding at the time of the accident. There was no contact between the motorcycle and the vehicle.

The investigation is continuing.
