April 7, 2006 -- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the death of a woman at 3015 Greenridge #46 about 7:20 p.m. on Thursday (April 6).

The suspect, Gregory Carl Manning II (w/m, DOB 10/1/79), is charged with capital murder in the 338th State District Court.

The identity of the victim and the cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office.

HPD Homicide Division Officers B. Nabors and F. Mares reported:

Manning entered the Abilene Police Department (Abilene, Texas) on Thursday (Apr. 6) and advised the desk officer that he needed to speak to him about a homicide. Manning informed the officer that on Sunday (Apr. 2) he and his girlfriend got into an argument at their apartment in Houston and that he had strangled her. HPD, contacted by Abilene PD, dispatched officers to the address provided by Manning where they discovered the victim dead in the bedroom of that apartment. Investigators learned the victim was approximately six months pregnant at the time of her death.
