Incident at 11660 Fuqua

August 22, 2006 -- Houston police hope reward monies totaling up to $15,000 can assist them in the investigation into the fatal shooting of a convenience store clerk at 11660 Fuqua about 4:15 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 21).

In addition to the Crime Stoppers reward of up to $5,000, Schepps Dairy is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) wanted in this case.

The victim, Hassan Tanvir Alam, 24, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Ruland and Officer M. Khan reported:

Customers entering the Gulf Palms Valero service station discovered Mr. Alam behind the counter. He had been shot twice during an apparent robbery.

Witnesses have described a suspicious person seen outside the store as possibly being a black male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a small mustache and faded haircut. The male was with a Hispanic female and possibly driving in an older model, black Cadillac with Mississippi license plates. Investigators would like to speak with those two individuals.
