Traffic Incident at S. Sam Houston Tollway and Telephone Road

August 26, 2006 -- The Houston Police Department, Mobility Incident Management Division, is investigating a traffic incident resulting in the death of one person that
occurred at the intersection of the S. Sam Houston Tollway and Telephone Road
at 12:07 a.m. on August 26, 2006.

Accident investigation Officer D. Gutierrez reports:

On August 26, 2006, at approximately 12:07 a.m., a vehicle traveling southbound on Telephone Road at a high rate of speed ran the red light at the intersection of the S. Sam Houston Tollway, eastbound. A vehicle, traveling eastbound on the tollway service road, struck the southbound vehicle. A passenger in the southbound (at fault) vehicle was killed. Both drivers sustained undetermined injuries.

The identity of the deceased will be determined by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office and will be disclosed after notification is made to family
members.

This accident will remain under investigation by the Mobility Incident Management Division.
