February 21, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 6300 Antoine about 6 a.m. on Sunday (Feb 19).

The victim has been identified as Stephen Michael Henry, 22, address unknown.
He suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. C. Bloyd and Officer D. L. Robertson reported:

Mr. Henry and a friend went to a local nightclub in the 6300 block of Antoine. At about 6 a.m., the friend went outside, sat in the car and waited for Henry. During this time, Henry became involved in an unknown type of altercation inside the club. According to the friend, Henry came outside with a bloody mouth. As they were attempting to leave the parking lot in the vehicle, several men wearing dark clothing and security guard badges attempted to stop them. The friend advised investigators the men opened fire on their vehicle as they drove away, striking Henry in the back. The friend drove to a convenience store at Antoine and DeSoto and called 911.

Patrol officers arrived and took into custody a male wearing similar clothing to that described by Henry*s friend. The male was arrested on a separate charge and is being questioned in this case.
