July 9, 2006 -- Houston police homicide investigators are investigating the shooting death of a woman at 6419 Skyline #1112. This incident occurred at approximately 7:25 a.m. on July 8, 2006.

Homicide Division Sergeant P. Motard and C. Abbondandolo report:

The victim, Michelle Carney (w/f 6-2-69), and other friends went to an apartment at 6419 Skyline # 1112 just before dawn on July 8, 2006. Once in the apartment, a male resident of the apartment became upset about the unkempt condition of the apartment and retrieved a handgun from an upstairs bedroom. Shortly thereafter, he returned to his room and the victim followed him. After a few minutes, a single gunshot was heard and witnesses found the victim on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to Hermann-Southwest Memorial Hospital by HFD where
she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

An investigation into the incident continues.
