Incident at 2082 Harland

June 26, 2006 -- Charges are pending against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 2082 Harland about 11:59 p.m. on Sunday (June 25).

The victim has been identified as Justin Lee Hocker, 24, of 340 Forest Hill in League City, Texas. He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Mosqueda and Officer L. Benavidez reported:

Mr. Justin Hocker became involved in a verbal confrontation with his estranged wife while returning their two children to her home. The victim's brother-in-law, along with another family member, came out of a back bedroom and confronted Hocker regarding his verbal abuse toward his sister. According to witnesses, the victim approached the brother-in-law in an aggressive manner at which time the brother-in-law retrieved a pistol and shot the victim multiple times.
