Traffic Incident on Leader at Mary Bates

November 20, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on Leader at Mary Bates about 12 p.m. today (Nov. 20).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner's office and notification to family members.

HPD Mobility Incident Management Division Sergeant G.T. Hall and Officer D.S. Schlichter reported:

A Ford Mustang traveling westbound on Leader ran the stop sign at the intersection of Leader and Mary Bates. The Ford struck a Toyota Rav 4, killing a passenger inside of that vehicle. The driver of the Toyota was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in an unknown condition. The driver and passenger of the Ford fled the scene on foot and are still at-large.
