Incident at 11800 South Main Street

November 25, 2006 -- Houston police are investigating the findings of human skeletal remains at 11800 South Main Street on November 24, 2006 at 9:30 a.m.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Scott and Officer T. Tyler reported:

The remains were found in a large overgrown and undeveloped field adjacent to the 11800 block of South Main Street.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a person using a metal detector came across the skeletal remains on the 23rd of November but did not call the police until the next morning. Forensic anthropologists with the Harris County Medical Examiner's office handled the recovery of the remains. They estimated that the remains had been at the location for over a year.

Any further investigation is pending the examination and findings of the Medical Examiner's office.
